Dr. Joynicole Martinez is Chief Executive Officer and President of Rising Tide Capital, a national nonprofit at the forefront of expanding entrepreneurial access and building economic resilience through business ownership. Under the organization’s leadership since its founding, Rising Tide Capital has empowered more than 11,000 entrepreneurs through its acclaimed Community Business Academy and comprehensive business advisory services—catalyzing businesses that generate millions in economic activity and create jobs in underserved communities nationwide. As CEO, Dr. Martinez is architecting the organization’s strategic expansion while refining the landscape of inclusive entrepreneurship.
Drawing on more than three decades of expertise in organizational strategy and capacity building, Dr. Martinez has partnered with institutions across sectors to strengthen leadership pipelines, build high-performing organizations, and dismantle barriers to opportunity. At Rising Tide Capital, she drives strategic partnerships and expands entrepreneurs’ access to the essential ecosystem of training, networks, and capital required to build sustainable, thriving businesses.
Originally trained as an epidemiologist, Dr. Martinez applies a distinctive multidisciplinary lens to her work—leveraging systems thinking and evidence-based approaches to tackle complex social challenges. Her leadership centers on cultivating inclusive organizational cultures and forging cross-sector collaborations that address the root causes of economic inequality and advance community wellbeing.
Dr. Martinez is also founder of The Alchemist Agency, a management consulting practice that advises C-suite leaders and organizations on strategic transformation, leadership development, and organizational excellence. Her client portfolio spans global corporations, professional associations, and mission-driven organizations across North America, Europe, and the Middle East.
An internationally recognized speaker and thought leader on leadership innovation and organizational change, Dr. Martinez serves as a member of the Forbes Coaches Council and a featured expert in the Women’s Media Center’s SheSource network. She is an inaugural member of the Peace50 (P50) community, sits on the board of Girls on the Run, and contributes thought leadership to The Carolinian, North Carolina’s oldest minority-owned newspaper.
