TANIECE CHAVERS Shear Bliss Salon and Spa

After losing my hair, I realized the serious trauma that this experience poses to a woman’s self-esteem. I decided to use my passion for hair styling and my dream of being an entrepreneur to develop a plan for a salon and spa that would cater to the needs of women suffering from hair loss.

I attended cosmetology school after I graduated from college, and then worked as a salon manager for 2.5 years, gaining valuable marketing skills while learning how to maintain healthy hair. I grew the salon’s clientele, managed the website, and social media presence and secured advertising opportunities.

Through RTC’s Community Business Academy, I learned how important it was to differentiate myself from the competition. I learned how to find my niche, identify my target market and put together a business plan that guides me through the process of getting up and running.

It’s been nothing short of a blessing to work with an organization like RTC that connects me with other Rising Tide entrepreneurs whose services I happen to need. It has made the process smoother and allowed me to network with some great people. “

Getting so much support from RTC has encouraged me to keep going on days when I felt like giving up. This experience has inspired me and showed me that I am not alone in this journey.

I hope my story serves as inspiration to other entrepreneurs to never give up on their dreams. It took me years to get where I am today and I’m still not fully there, but had I given up prematurely I would have missed out on the blessing God has for my life.
