About four years ago, I started making body scrubs for myself and later began handing them out to friends and family who encouraged me to ‘start something’. So, in 2010 my sister Amy and I joined forces and my cherished hobby grew into a business. We named our hand-blended bodycare company DollyMoo, a term of endearment our Greek grandmother called us. We’re all about encouraging people to love themselves and their bodies.

I learned about RTC after a friend sent me an article about the Start Something Challenge! I gathered up the courage to enter and was overwhelmed by the outpour of support from friends, family and customers. We won the $7,500 2nd prize and redesigned our labels to meet FDA standards. The new packaging enabled us to sell our products in 7 Whole Foods in New York and New Jersey.

Becoming a vendor at Whole Foods has contributed to our growth and given us major credibility. Each store has re-ordered which means that people are buying! We are outgrowing our space, have hired staff members, and are hoping to lease a small commercial space in the future to produce our products more efficiently.

I can’t thank RTC enough for their continued support. As a business owner, there are moments when you just want to cry, or do cry, but it is comforting to know that the Rising Tide Capital team is always a phone call away.
