Rising Tide Capital Holds First Strategic Advisory Board Meeting

sab_event_editedAfter months of planning, Rising Tide Capital (RTC) held its first Strategic Advisory Board (SAB) meeting, an initiative that is sure to change the future of the organization.

The well attended meeting took place on July 14, 2010 at Michael Anthony’s Restaurant on the Jersey City Waterfront, and was led by RTC board members Matthew Barnes and Anand Devendran. The SAB is looking to gather a group of committed, accomplished individuals who are interested in micro-enterprise and community development and would like to offer advice and donate their time to the RTC leadership and staff.

The interested attendees of the meeting (which included professionals from Goldman Sachs, CIT Group, Stryker Corp, as well as RTC core volunteers and entrepreneurs) had the opportunity to hear firsthand testimonials from some of the RTC entrepreneurs that were in attendance:   An Sean Fields, Angela Quinoñez, Bhaier Ramsingh-Lance, Cherese Bracey & Taji Bracey, and Loida Lafi.

sab_event_2_editedThe SAB will be made up of three separate committees: strategic, counsel & analysis; individual & small group fundraising, events, networking & “friendraising”; and corporate partnerships, sponsorship, major donor initiatives. SAB chairman Matthew Barnes was pleased with the turnout of the event, and sees a bright future in the SAB.

“It is an exciting next step in the maturation and evolution of RTC,” Barnes said. “As the organization grows in the number of people that it serves, this body will help to further build upon the quality of the service that the organization provides,” Barnes said about the impact that the SAB will have. Concerning the amount of people in attendance, Barnes said, “It is good to see many people enthusiastic about the organization.”

It is not too late to learn more about the SAB. All interested in getting involved in the SAB should contact the SAB chairman, Matthew Barnes, at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .
